alloy wheel welding

AT ALLOYTECHREFURBEDRIMS WE WILL WELD CRACKS IN WHEELS,HOWEVER WE DO NOT LIKE DOING IT AS THE WHEEL/S HAVE BEEN WEAKENED BUT WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT WHEELS CAN BE STUPIDLY EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS SO AT LEAST WE CAN OFFER CUSTOMERS THE CORRECT WAY TO WELD A CRACKED WHEEL IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET IT DONE, HOWEVER WE WILL ONLY WELD A MAXIMUM OF 2CRACKS/SPLITS PER WHEEL IF THERE IS ANYMORE IN THE WHEEL PLEASE TAKE THEM ELSEWHERE.
OUR PROCEDURE IS TAKE TYRE OFF DRILL A SMALL HOLE AT BOTTOM OF CRACK/SPLIT THIS IS TO PREVENT THE CRACK FROM TRAVELLING (CUSTOMERS ONLY SEE A SMALL CRACK ON LIP BUT ALL CRACKS TRAVEL INSIDE THE WHEEL ) ,, WE CUT A LINE THROUGH THE CRACK/SPLIT AND TAKE COATING OFF AROUND THE CRACK/SPLIT OF THE ALLOY WHEEL THEN TIG WELD INSIDE THE WHEEL AND OUTSIDE THE WHEEL THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO WELD A CRACK TO GIVE IT A BETTER STRENGTH AS IT UNIFORMS THE ALLOY METALS .
WITH WHEELS IT IS BETTER TO TIG WELD AS YOU GET THE CORRECT HEAT IN THE WHEELS SO MELTS ALLOYS TOGETHER.
WE THEN GRIND THE EXCESS WELD OFF THE INSIDE WELD SO TYRE CAN BE SEALED AGAIN,, WE TEND TO LEAVE A LOT OF WELD ON THE OUTSIDE OF WHEEL FOR STRENGTH WE THEN COVER THE BARE ALLOY WITH A BIT OF GREY PRIMER WET SPRAY,,,UNLESS THE WHEEL IS IN FOR A FULL REFURBISHMENT THEN WE WOULD SMOOTH THE WELD ALL OUT BEFORE RE POWDER COATING THE WHEEL AS THE POWDER COATING GIVES THE ALLOY WHEEL EXTRA STRENGTH.
THE FINAL THING IS TO RE FIT THE TYRE WITH A NEW RUBBER VALVE (IF WHEEL FITTED WITH TPMS NO NEW VALVE CAN BE FITTED) THEN RE BALANCE THE WHEEL AND THE WHEEL IS TESTED AT 50PSI AND SPRAYED WITH FOAMING SOLUTION TO TEST FOR LEAKS.
WE HAVE SEEN WHEELS THAT HAVE BEEN MIG WELDED OVER THE CRACK ON OUTSIDE ONLY WHICH IS NOT MUCH BETTER THAN PUTTING FILLER OVER THE CRACK AND IT WILL NOT LAST AND JUST CRACK WITH LITTLE STRESS.
WE HAVE ALSO SEEN WHEELS THAT HAVE BEEN WELDED ON OUTSIDE OF WHEEL WITH THE TYRES LEFT ON AND BECAUSE OF THIS IT HAD MELTED THE TYRE!. 
WE REALLY HAVE SEEN IT ALL.

DO NOT EXPECT WELDED WHEELS TO BE AS STRONG AS UNCRACKED WHEELS, IF YOU HAVE MANAGED TO CRACK A PERFECTLY GOOD WHEEL YOU WILL RE CRACK A WELDED WHEEL WITH HEAVY IMPACT.
WE WILL ASK YOU TO SIGN A WAIVER FORM THAT EXONERATES US FROM ALL RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL WORK CARRIED OUT ON YOUR WHEEL AND YOUR WHEEL ITSELF,,IF YOU DONT WANT TO SIGN THE FORM THEN NO WORK CAN BE CARRIED OUT ON YOUR WHEEL/S.
WE OFFER A START TO FINISH PROFESSIONAL PROCEDURE SO UNLIKE SOME OTHER COMPANIES WHO ASK YOU TO GET YOUR TYRES REMOVED AND REFITTED WHICH WOULD COST YOU AROUND ANOTHER £20 ,,,WE INCLUDE THIS IN OUR PRICE AND HAVE ALL MACHINES TO TAKE TYRES OFF AND REFIT PLUS BALANCE AFTERWARDS.
ALL THAT WE ASK IS YOU BOOK IN THE WHEEL/S BY PHONE AND DROP THE WHEEL/S OFF  WE DO NOT HAVE A WAITING AREA,,,AS TO DO THE PROCEDURE IS AROUND 2 HOURS BUT WE WILL PHONE OR MESSAGE YOU WHEN IT IS READY WHICH WILL BE THE SAME DAY AS IT BEING BOOKED IN WITH US.
WE CAN HAVE YOUR CAR BUT THERE WILL BE A EXTRA COST FOR AXLE STANDING REMOVING WHEEL/S AND REFITTING.
